dyed cotton, mouth-blown antique glass
The Broken Windows Theory claims that visible destruction in public spaces leads to increased crime. However, research has debunked this, showing that social factors are significant. Rather than a causal theory, the "Broken Windows" series explores an aesthetic deeply rooted in the present — emerging from the interplay of shattered glass and torn curtains.

float glass, lead glass paint,
masking tape, foam, protective corners
Jeschkelanger worked on fourteen float glass panes using lead glass paint. Workshop staff packed them randomly, integrating protective materials into the work — an unconscious collaboration where chance and packaging completed the artwork to five final pieces.

100 x 80 cm
fur coats in artist frames
Before large glass panes existed, stretched hides covered windows to block the wind. Fur coats, once valuable heirlooms, are now often discarded. Windows reverses these skins, exposing the markings and seams of furriers — revealing a layered history of craftsmanship and material transformation, which was mostly in the hands of women.

The Tomb of the Diver (c. 470 BCE), is a limestone slab depicting a solitary figure diving into water. The vibrant fresco symbolizes transition, possibly the passage to the afterlife. The series Airtime highlights details of Tomb of the Diver using Punic wax, the alleged material of ancient painting, as a tribute to the lost art of painting in antiquity.

"I took it too seriously and sacredly; I did not think about the fact that I am a girl. No one flattered me with
such a remark. No one thought of me so thoughtfully, as would have been necessary to make such a remark to
me—one
that I would have obeyed, even if at first I had played the outraged one."
Hedwig Tanner from The Tanners (1907), Robert Walser
